The UTMA organization announces that, following an injury sustained by Deividas Jemeljanovas, the final bout of “The Eight” tournament against Isa Gocmen for the 81 kg UTMA Kickboxing Championship belt and the €50,000 prize is being postponed.
As a reminder, the final bout of the tournament was scheduled to take place at the UTMA 21 event. It was set to feature the Lithuanian and Turkish fighters who successfully advanced through the semi-final stage in the UTMA 20 ring.
D. Jemeljanovas (5-1, UTMA) successfully defeated Rodrigo Mineiro in the semi-finals, while I. Gocmen (3-1, UTMA) secured a victory against Tomas Banskis.
However, it was precisely in this semi-final bout that D. Jemeljanovas sustained his injury – following medical examinations, the fighter was diagnosed with a fracture of the upper fibula, and a cast has been applied.
UTMA has received and reviewed the authentic medical examination results and diagnosis from the fighter.
As it became clear that D. Jemeljanovas will not be able to return to his training regimen for at least a month due to the injury, the UTMA organization made the decision to postpone this tournament final to the earliest possible date when D. Jemeljanovas is fully recovered and able to return to the ring.
UTMA regrets this situation and wishes the fighters health, so that this final bout can take place as soon as possible.
As a reminder, the UTMA 21 event card continues to be actively filled out – the main event of the evening has already been announced, in which Nikola Cvetkovic will defend his 75 kg UTMA Kickboxing belt against Raimondas Avlasevicius.
The UTMA 21 event will take place on November 28th at the Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas. Tickets are available via kakava.lt, and the PPV broadcast can be purchased at UTMA.lt.
